Who can benefit from this course?

This accredited course is the essential course for all early years practitioners working with young children and infants. Since September 2016 it is now a legal requirement that practitioners working in early years settings must hold this qualification which must be renewed every three years in order to continue working in that industry. Many others could also benefit from this course including teachers, support workers, children`s play centre workers as well as parents and carers in general.

Course includes the basic operation and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

Topics covered

By the end of the course, students will understand the role of paediatric first aider, and be able to provide treatment for infants and children in a range of situations both minor and life threatening, including cardiac arrest, choking, circulatory shock, anaphylaxis, wounds and bleeding. First Aid techniques covered include carrying out a Primary Survey and a Secondary Assessment, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, treatment for a choking casualty, treating head injuries, treating burns and scalds bandages and slings and much more
